Clinical Research Coordinator I – Neurology Department

The Department of Neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center is a nationally recognized leader in the comprehensive management of neurological conditions.  Our vibrant department comprises more than 75 full-time faculty in 12 subspecialty sections, supporting a spectrum of complex and innovative approaches to neurological care, a broad range of novel research programs, and a panoply of educational opportunities for trainees.  The department offers access to the latest innovative treatments in one of the most rapidly advancing fields of medicine and features an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Level-4 NEAC Epilepsy Center.  Through collaborations with the O’Donnell Brain Institute, the department is building state-of-the art facilities for drug and device testing and bringing current and new faculty together for collaborative research on brain disease therapy.   

Position Summary & Preferred Qualifications/Experience

The sections of neuromuscular and stroke in the Department of Neurology are seeking a junior research coordinator. Training is available for candidates with evidence of good organizational and interpersonal skills.  The research coordinator will be responsible for assisting one or more principal investigator(s) in performing clinical research projects. The coordinator is expected to manage all aspects of assigned projects.  This includes submitting and managing required regulatory documents (IRB, training logs etc.), conducting face-to-face visits with research subjects, collecting and entering data and providing regular reports to the investigators and research sponsors.  The coordinator will be part of a team of research coordinators in the neuromuscular section in the Department of Neurology.  The coordinator will have primary responsibility for several clinical research projects while providing backup support for other coordinators when needed.  

Initially, the research coordinator will be assigned to clinical research projects related to ALS and stroke.  The portfolio of research projects may change over time depending on the research activities of the department.
