Job Title: Performing Arts Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for establishing and leading a successful high school Performing Arts program. This position shall set an example of an exceptional professional educator and be ever mindful that both teacher and student represent the Madison County School District and are expected to conduct themselves in an exemplary manner. This position shall be responsible for administering a successful and competitive program, that includes the development of self-discipline, character, teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, citizenship, responsibility, academic excellence, and the molding of the leaders of tomorrow's society. The primary duties of the person holding this position will be to encourage student participation and manage the successful day-to-day operations of the high Performing Arts program.
QUALIFICATIONS - A Bachelor's Degree in EducationA valid Mississippi teaching certificateStrong communication, both oral and written, skills are requiredStrong interpersonal skills are required to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, and members of the communityThorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teachingThorough knowledge of the fundamentals of the Performing Arts and Drama department
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - To have good knowledge of students' learning needs concerning performing arts and drama including emotional and communication development for children with physical disabilities and complex needsTo have an excellent understanding of the Performing Arts and Drama CurriculumTo research and order appropriate resources including props and costumes for all key stagesTo audit the use of the Performing Arts and Drama resources throughout the schoolTo review and implement any developments to our Performing Arts and Drama Curriculum and assessment processes including working on school shows and productions as well as developing a group and class drama timetable of sessions that develop social and emotional understanding and communication abilitiesTo deliver high-quality sessions that meet students' needs and are fun and motivating as well as meeting Madison County Schools requirementsTo plan and work with the wider team to deliver whole school events such as Harvest, Christmas Performances, Graduations, and PromTo lead on school Performing Arts events such as performances in GHS Theatre, Shakespeare for Schools, etc
- To plan and deliver training for the Germantown High School staff community that enables drama and performing arts strategies to be used throughout the learning weekTo manage the Performing Arts and Drama Team professionally and observe the School's ethos and missionTo lead after-school clubs weekly and take part in leading holiday clubs as needed
