The Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center ( SOREC ) associated with the Department of Horticulture invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 9-month, tenure track Assistant Professor – Entomologist position. This position will be located in Central Point, Oregon
The academic home of the Assistant Professor – Entomologist will be the Department of Horticulture. SOREC is located in the heart of the Rogue Valley, a rich agricultural region known for its pears, wine grapes, and more recently, hemp. SOREC contributes value to Oregon State University ( OSU ) and the local agricultural community through outreach and engagement with stakeholders, including agricultural industry, governmental and local organizations, and the public through high quality research programs and educational opportunities. The person in this position is expected to develop and implement collaborative and independent research focused primarily on integrated management of arthropod pests of pears, wine grapes, hemp, or other relevant crops of commercial importance. The research discoveries and impacts are to be communicated to peers, practitioners, and citizens.

SOREC is located 200 miles south of the OSU main campus, just outside of Medford. Beyond agriculture, the Rogue Valley is known for world-class outdoor recreation in the Cascade and Siskiyou Mountain ranges. Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):
Typically requires PhD or terminal degree (Masters for some Extension positions and MLS for Library positions), demonstrated ability to teach in a classroom Extension, or other setting, and develop a research program in the academic discipline/unit.
Requirements :
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
