Coppell City Manager's Office seeks a
Chief of Strategic Relationships to elevate our service to the community by serving as an essential connector between the City Manager's Office and all internal and external customers, organizations, elected officials, and community partners!
Our ideal candidate is a dynamic individual adept at cultivating and enhancing key relationships to foster trust, collaboration, and service to others. This role necessitates exceptional people skills, political acumen, and meticulous attention to detail. Critical responsibilities include providing professional counsel to the City Manager, problem-solving organizational issues, and serving as a liaison between City Officials, employees, community groups, and the public.
Essential job functions encompass engaging with all levels of the organization, fostering community advocacy, performing public relations and legislative advocacy work, and participating in various city management-related meetings. Additionally, the position entails overseeing departmental budget development, providing administrative support to the City Manager, and managing specialized projects.

This opportunity is exempt and on Pay Grade #21. The full Pay Grade Range is shown for growth and development opportunities within the grade. Salary determination is supported by budget availability and qualifications of the candidate to maintain internal equity.
Hiring Range: Min-Mid
Min $83,870.59 ($40.32)
Mid $102,721.63 ($49.39)
Max $121,594.72 ($58.46)

Eligibility Experience - Bachelor's degree in public administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field, with a demonstrated record of continuing education and training.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in municipal government.
- A valid Texas Driver's license, and a good driving record.
Skills/Abilities - Collaborates effectively within a team to ensure the smooth operation of all City departments and the delivery of diverse City services through adept relationship building.
- Utilizes logic and reasoning to assess the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, and problem-solving approaches.
- Proficient in operating personal computer hardware, software, and related office equipment.
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of working extended hours when necessary.
- Manages multiple tasks simultaneously, maintaining composure and critical decision-making abilities during high-stress or emergency situations.
- Executes routine office tasks, including document manipulation and preparation, while effectively communicating with diverse audiences including city officials, employees, public sector organizations, and the general public.
Knowledge - Possesses a comprehensive understanding of customer service principles, public speaking techniques, and relationship-building strategies.
- Engages frequently with City residents, elected officials, and organizational members.
- Exhibits proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English, exercising independent judgment in prioritizing work tasks, and resolving administrative issues within deadlines.
- Comfortable with developing and presenting effective strategies to address various City-related challenges.
- Familiarity with budget management and project oversight.
- Capable of comprehending complex materials such as City ordinances, state, and federal legislation, and statutes.
This is Coppell The City Manager's Office encourages and motivates the direction of all departments, offices, and agencies of the City, prepares and submits the annual budget and capital improvement programs to the City Council, and administers the annual budget adopted by the City Council. The City Manager and staff act as liaisons among the City Council, citizens, and City organizations, and represent the City Council and City staff at various meetings and conferences.
