Job description
I. Position Overview
The Vice President of Education Services (VP-ES) will be MCEC’s lead agent for creating, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating educational resources which serve the military-connected student community and those who impact their educations, including but not limited to parents, educators, education administrators and boards, military departments, partner nonprofits and organizations, and government officials whose portfolios impact military-connected students.
The VP-ES will be a mission-focused, effective member of MCEC’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT), dedicated to delivering measurable, cost-effective results in ways that make MCEC’s vision a reality, anchored in MCEC’s board-approved Strategic and Operational Plans, and with clarifying guidance from the President & CEO. This position requires a combination of leadership, management, and communication skills that cut across a diverse group of internal and external customers and stakeholders.
Work assignments and targets will provide a wide range of latitude in developing opportunities. Staffing provided to accomplish the identified requirements will include full-time and part-time paid staff, contractors, and volunteers as appropriate.

This position reports to the President/Chief Executive Officer. Work and supervisory responsibility align with MCEC’s Strategic and Operational Plans, goals, and annual performance targets. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; and appraising performance.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common educational articles and technical journals, financial reports, and diverse documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from staff and trainers.
Ability to write articles or papers for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to staff, MCEC Board, CEO or COO as required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must maintain high speed internet connectivity for remote work and must be able to travel occasionally (likely no more than 10 percent of time).
