Postdoctoral Scholar in Food Policy Position Overview: The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See Table 23: Postdoctoral Scholar-Employee, Postdoctoral Scholar-Fellow, Postdoctoral Scholar-Paid Direct, Fiscal Year . The salary range for this position is $64,480-$77,327. 'Off-scale salaries', i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience.
Dr. Jennifer Falbe at the University of California, Davis is recruiting a Postdoctoral Scholar to begin around winter-summer 2024 (start date flexible) to work on studies related to food policy, food systems, and policy implementation science. Potential research projects include an NIH-funded study evaluating the nation's first healthy checkout policy, experiments testing front-of-package and restaurant warning labels, and analyses of institutional procurement policies.
Major responsibilities of the postdoc will include cleaning and analyzing quantitative (and qualitative) data, designing and managing studies, and presenting and publishing research through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
This position is guaranteed for 2 years, and there is the possibility for renewal dependent on performance. The postdoc will also have the opportunity to develop grant writing and mentorship experience. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with expertise in quantitative methods and public health nutrition who would like to develop expertise in areas such as natural experiments, randomized controlled trials, public policy, health disparities, food and sustainability, qualitative methods, commercial determinants of health, and implementation science.
