Disney Experiences Communications Events is part of the Disney Experiences Communications and Public Affairs Center of Excellence. It is a service provider that drives strategic, creative and innovative virtual and physical events focused toward media, social influencers, cast, franchise licensees and consumers that drive relevant storytelling, create compelling content and allow for amplification and distribution across a variety of digital and traditional platforms.
The team is tasked with producing consumer, business-to-business and internal events that support Disney Consumer Products, Games & Publishing, supporting our lines of business and initiatives across our portfolio of franchises: Disney characters and movies, Pixar, Star Wars, National Geographic, 20th Century Studios and Marvel.
During this internship, you will be a part of the Disney Consumer Products Events team. Y ou will report to a Senior Events Manager in Orlando, FL or Glendale, CA. The Communications Events Intern will help plan, develop and produce complex and high-profile physical and virtual events. The individual’s success will lie in their ability to demonstrate critical thinking and project management capabilities. Through close collaboration with multiple partners, they will help curate events that drive outstanding results that align with business goals, objectives and strategies.
What You Will Do:
Participate in the conceptualization of events, programs and business driving projects
Collaborate with internal and external partners to help develop and deliver a varied level of events
Provide on-the-ground support throughout the event development process including event execution
Build relationships with partners across the company that represent a vast array of subject areas and businesses
Contribute to the success of the team by assisting in developing, updating and coordinating key project/event planning documents such as agendas, project milestones, itineraries, tracking grids, presentations and more
Required Qualifications & Skills:
You have project management skills and can help shape the overall vision of a project with key partners to deliver results
You love creating new relationships and openly share thoughts and ideas
You are a quick learner who enjoys accepting new challenges big and small
You can identify a need and create a solution to help move the business forward
You are curious about the magic that goes into producing a Disney event
You are o rganized with the ability to create and help maintain project timelines, budgets, and decks
Strong proficiency and skill in Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Keynote, etc.) and ability to learn new and existing software programs & applications
Strong written and verbal communication abilities
Technically savvy and willing to work with multiple platforms of communication (i.e., Slack, Teams, Google Docs, etc.)
Flexibility as you may work a varied schedule that could include evenings, nights, and weekends as needed for events
You have the ability to physically stand for extended periods of time, and lift up to 25 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Passion for the Disney brand and culture
Knowledge and experience working in the events industry
Curiosity about the current media landscape and how it drives reputation and business results
Desire to deliver creative storytelling through event design and guest experiences
Required Education:
Currently enrolled as a senior or graduated within six months at the time of the application for this internship, in an accredited U.S. college/university, earning a degree in events, project management, communications, public relations, marketing or a related major with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
Must possess unrestricted work authorization
Must be aligned with The Disney Look appearance guidelines
This internship is a hybrid position which means the intern will work primarily on-site from a Company designated location, and the remainder of their time remotely, so they need to have access to a working, reliable internet connection as well as a quiet, dedicated workspace
Program length - The approximate dates of this internship are June 2024 - January 2025
Work details - Fully available to work 40 hours a week for the duration of the internship
