Job description
Position Summary:
To provide excellent customer service and clinical services in accordance with Atlantic Health Pride Values. Provide support to the Imaging technologists to ensure optimal patient care and efficient departmental operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Validate patient identity as per AHS universal protocol 2 patient identifiers.
- Provide transport to/from ED to imaging modalities via stretcher/ wheelchair/bed.
- Assist with positioning and transferring patients comfortably and safely on exam tables utilizing assistive devices i.e., ceiling lift, sliding board.
- Maintain infection prevention measures cleaning with hospital approved wipes as per instructions for use.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of modality workflows to ensure optimal patient care. Assist patients with toileting once deemed competent to perform.
- Perform scheduling and processing of ED patients and inpatient and outpatient orders in EPIC. ( Site dependent once deemed competent to perform.)
- Complete ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations, i.e., specimen delivery to lab.
- Promotes positive relations between self, team members, and radiologist.
- Understands, supports, promotes, and adheres to the Customer Service of extraordinary care and follows AHS policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate protection and safety for patients and team members as outlined in department protocols and regulatory guidelines pertaining to radiation safety.
- Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric, and general population.
- Must be flexible for department work schedule.
- Completes annual educational requirements, includes but not limited to MRI safety.
- Ensure par levels are met and communicated to lead/ designee when supplies are low. Restock supplies, ensure expirations dates are within date of use.
- Perform other assigned or outlined duties of Radiology Assistant.
Position Qualifications Required
High School Graduate
Training/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
The ability to lift 50lbs
Skills/Activities
Excellent interpersonal skills. Effective verbal and written skills. Basic proficiency with computer system
Experience
Minimum 1-2 years of experience preferred as a Radiology Assistant, or Nurse’s Assistant.
Strong candidates with no previous experience will be considered and trained once onboarded.
