Job description

Summary: Plans designs and directs civil engineering projects such as roads railroads airports bridges harbors channels dams irrigation systems pipelines and power plants by performing the following duties.

Duties:

1. Performs engineering tasks under close supervision; encouraged to solve engineering problems using experience judgment and education but expected to ask for assistant when needed

2. Completes modeling and calculations for projects

3. Analyzes reports maps drawings blueprints tests and aerial photographs on soil composition terrain hydrological characteristics and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design project.

4. Calculates cost and determines feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data.

5. Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports specifications plans construction schedules environmental impact studies and designs for project.

6. Researches/Reviews code and permitting requirements for project sites as directed.

7. Ability to trouble shoot design and software issues

Requirements

Qualifications:

1. Minimum of Bachelors degree (B. A.) in engineering from fouryear college or university and has passed EIT examination or is working on both

2. No engineering experience necessary

3. Working knowledge/experience with the computer design software AutoCAD Civil 3D required (experience with MicroStation/GeoPak preferred)

4. This job has no supervisory responsibilities

Working knowledge of mechanical piping and airside systems as well as other related trades Experience with Microsoft Office Must be energetic, pro-active, inquisitive and systems oriented. Must show competency, accuracy, organizational skills and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Strong communication skills both written and oral are needed Must be a self-starter and team player with a strong sense of urgency The ability and desire to provide solutions
