Job description

Alcott HR is currently searching for an Accounting Intern to join our Finance Team for a summer internship in our Farmingdale, NY office. As an Accounting Intern, you will work closely with the Finance Team members to maintain accounting records and analyze financial data. You will be provided the opportunity to shadow and participate in the preparation of journal entries and financial reports, learn about accounting software, and assist with various accounting activities.

Here's what you'll do:

• Shadow members of the accounting department as they perform their duties.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Assist in financial accounting and tax research.
• Compile and analyze data.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with monthly closing.
• Prepare financial reports, such as balance sheets and income statements.
• Perform 401(k) and benefits report reconciliations.
• Handle sensitive and confidential information with honesty and integrity.
• Take on additional tasks or projects to learn more about accounting and office operations.

You are someone who:

• Pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting.
• Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting courses and a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles.
• MS Excel skills at intermediate level or higher.
• Aptitude for math, proficiency with computers.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility.
• Motivation and a strong desire to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible.

Compensation: $16/hour
