Job Summary The Investment Office oversees the Institute's investment portfolio, managing over $4.6 billion of endowment pool, trust and other assets. We are looking for an intuitive, self-motivated, and decisive professional to join our team as Investment Operations Associate. The Investment Operations Associate will be part of a 5-person Investment Operations Team. We are a small, but highly collaborative Investment Office of 12 led by the Institute's Chief Investment Officer. This position reports to the Director of Investment Operations. Position is 100% on-site.
Essential Job Duties - Process transactions in operations systems, maintain related status logs and supporting documentation, and reconcile information with custodian's and investment managers' records.
- Compile wire transfer approval packages with required supporting documentation. Verify the validity and accuracy of wire requests. Set up wires in the custodian bank's system.
- Monitor cash activity daily and reconcile various cash accounts weekly.
- Calculate monthly market values for several private investment funds that require basic calculations using investment manager estimates.
- Perform month-end close procedures that involve reconciliation, recalculation, and reasonableness reviews of a variety of information including month-end valuations, portfolio performance calculations, and asset class benchmarks.
- Assist with quarter-end reporting deliverables for the Investment Office and for Investment Committee meetings.
- Review manager quarterly capital statements and reconcile any discrepancies.
- Review annual audited financial statements for all funds and investments.
- Engage with custodian bank staff on issues noted with day-to-day activities as well as the month-end close.
- Assist with external audit, gather supporting documentation for audit selections, prepare confirmations and investigate discrepancies.
- Collaborate on special projects, as requested by the Director of Investment Operations or by other members of the Investment Office.
Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, economics, and finance, or a related field from an accredited university.
- Solid working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Ability to work independently to produce accurate, complete, and timely deliverables. Must also possess the ability to independently identify, communicate, and resolve issues.
- Strong organizational, project management, interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify, propose, and implement improvements to existing processes.
Preferred Qualifications - Two years of relevant experience in accounting or investment operations.
- Public accounting experience.
