Job description
POSITION: Philanthropy Manager
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Science Central, a hands-on science center (physical, natural and applied sciences), is currently hiring an experienced, creative, outgoing, team-oriented, highly organized fundraiser and donor relations professional. This position will build relationships with individuals and families, and corporate sponsors; help acquire sponsorships; maintain donor database and records; research funding sources; communicate activities with staff and committees.
Duties will include:
Grow philanthropic giving by current individual, family and corporate donors, and research and cultivate new donors
Develop solicitation materials, create donor relations plans, write proposals for prospects, and meet with donors
Document all visits, contacts, donations, and follow-up information in donor database
Oversee the annual campaign, endowment, and planned giving programs
Oversee monthly giving, matching gifts, in-kind gifts and special giving opportunities
Participate in internal staff/committee and external vendor/community meetings
Assist with science center activities, such as fundraisers and special events
REQUIRED SKILLS: time- and detail-oriented; self-motivated, organized, and able to multi-task and meet deadlines; excellent written and verbal skills; strong interpersonal skills, communicative and team-oriented; skilled at researching funding sources; able to meet prospects, explain the need for and value of their support; able to keep detailed notes and records; ability to coordinate and prepare project budgets; comfortable in a fast-paced environment; sense of humor.
QUALIFICATIONS: College degree preferred; 2+ years experience in fundraising/development, preferably in the non-profit field and in donor relations; must be comfortable working in a science-related organization; skilled with Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel; comfortable with donor databases; ability to drive and valid Driver’s License; successful completion of Criminal Background Check.
SCHEDULE: Full-time, schedule will include weekdays, and some weekends and evenings
SALARY: $40,000; exempt position; with full benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, etc. and generous paid time off
