Midland, MI Hybrid Work Freudenberg Battery Power Systems LLC The Purchasing Technical Specialist acts as the lead for their assigned program(s). This position will also have responsibilities for commodities and will be responsible for all purchasing activities to support the FBPS/XALT Energy strategic sourcing plan. You support our team as Purchasing Technical Specialist Responsibilities Assists Purchasing personnel to understand and analyze specifications and requirements to facilitate procurement of parts and equipment for Battery Pack and BDU components Consults Purchasing personnel on engineering related issues and facilitates potential modification to performance criteria and specifications to drive down cost on Battery Pack and BDU components Leads all commercial and supplier management activity for assigned commodities Initiates and executes a Market Analysis and Commodity Strategy for assigned commodities that includes a strategy for supply base development and optimization by commodity Development of material strategies that mitigate financial and business risk Initiates and leads material cost savings activities through workplans Leads make/buy decision process for assigned commodities Creation and execution of Purchase & Supply Agreements (contracts) Responsible & accountable for successful completion of managing cost and completing key assignments, projects as defined by direct manager. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required: Engineering, Program Management and/or Supply Chain; other disciplines will be evaluated based on level of experience. The candidate requires a unique combination engineering, purchasing and business management skills sufficient to lead the managed groups to higher levels of performance. A solid understanding of engineering concepts, purchasing systems, cost management, supplier development and the technical aspect of manufacturing processes are essential to success. The candidate must be capable of promoting and selling concepts at all levels of the organization through sound analysis and business judgment. 5-10 years of work experience in Engineering with a desire to work in a commercial role. Demonstrated experience with VA/VE implementation of design and cost improvements. Demonstrated experience with SAP MRP systems, proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and document control, including engineering drawings releases and revision control.
