Job description
This person will be responsible for educational leadership, student instruction, and student advising in the automotive majors.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree in Automotive Technology, Vocational Education, or related discipline. Required
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) L1. Preferred
- Master's Degree in Vocational Education or related discipline. Preferred
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certified Master Automobile Technician with G1 Maintenance and Light Repair Certification. Required
- Must hold a certification in the handling and disposal of refrigerants. Required
- Must be a licensed Pennsylvania inspection instructor, OR, complete all the requirements and be licensed to instruct inspection within two (2) years of employment. Required
EXPERIENCE
- Six (6) years' experience in the automotive or related industry. Required
- Teaching experience on secondary or postsecondary level. Preferred
- Service management experience for a major automotive manufacturer or motorsports/race car construction and preparation experience. Preferred
ABILITIES AND SKILLS
- Must remain current with accrediting body certification requirements. Required
- Developed organizational skills. Required
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. Required
- Possession of a valid driver's license. Required
- Instruct and evaluate students in live work area who are performing general services and repairs on automobiles.
- Provide instruction in shop safety, prestate inspections and test administration, manual and automatic transmissions, air conditioning, engine overhaul, system troubleshooting, engine performance, brakes, electrical systems, wheel alignment and balance, electrical diagnosis, use of testing devices.
- Provide instruction in automotive service management techniques, alternative fuels, and performance applications.
- Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records on students.
- Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revisions, and development.
- Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities as required by corporate sponsors.
- Contribute to betterment of College through School committee participation. Assume responsibility for laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance.
- Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines.
- Participate in Outcomes Assessment activities and Program Review.

Commensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2023/24 academic year is $59,299 – $77,142.The wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment for full-time teaching faculty, counselors and librarians (all regular College funded positions and certain grant/contract funded positions) are determined by the negotiated Agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association. If you are currently receiving an annuity from the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System, employment at Pennsylvania College of Technology may affect your annuity status. If you are currently a member of either the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System you may be required to contribute into the System.
