About the Department:
To recruit and enroll applicants to George Mason University, including freshmen, transfers, graduate and non-degree students.
About the Position:
The primary purpose of this position is to review applications for In-State Domicile status for tuition purposes including all necessary follow-up and guidance on next steps.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize Datamart and Salesforce customer relationship management (CRM) software to review new domicile applications to determine eligibility for Virginia In-State Tuition Rates;
- Remain current on all new initiatives and processes related to the state code of Virginia (* 23-7.4);
- Ensure that all applications for in-state tuition meet official state and university record management requirements;
- Review and make domicile decisions in a quick, efficient manner, providing timely responses to questions related to in-state tuition applications;
- Utilize domicile training, recommendations and guidelines from the State Council of Higher Education in Virginia (SCHEV) to assess the initial (Level 1) domicile status of applicants;
- Appropriately counsel students who are not initially classified in-state on the second review appeal process;
- Document in Salesforce and Banner any relevant counseling conversations, including copies of emails that may support your message, as appropriate;
- Attend all meetings and trainings, both on and off-campus;
- Provide basic trainings on domicile for the admissions staff;
- Refer applicants for domicile appeals according to university policies;
- Use CRM software as appropriate;
- Act as liaison to many Mason offices including, but not limited to: Registrar, Student Accounts, and the Office of International Programs and Services;
- Email and CRM correspondence is to be addressed in a timely manner, within three business days or less unless otherwise notified;
- Interactions with faculty, staff and applicants will be completed with courtesy and professionalism; and
- Complete assigned tasks in a timely fashion to ensure data accuracy or other articulated goal; and
- Complete special projects and perform various other duties as deemed appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Experience working in a university environment, customer service, or administrative position;
- Computer literacy and willingness to learn new software applications;
- Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills with process-oriented thinking;
- Excellent communication and customer service skills;
- Ability to work in fast-paced, process and deadline-driven environment where prioritization of multilevel tasks are necessary daily;
- Ability to perform work effectively in high-volume environment with minimum supervision;
- Demonstrated ability to work positively as a team member;
- Ability to learn office/university procedures quickly, occasionally using learned procedures to help teach and train wage, student, and other full-time staff members; and
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Ellucian Banner administrative system;
- Previous admissions experience;
- Experience with CRM software;
- Bilingual; and
- Working knowledge of the process for application for in-state tuition eligibility pursuant to the State Code of Virginia (* 23-7.4).
