Job description

Els for Autism® located in Jupiter, Florida, envisions a world of limitless possibilities for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families.

The global mission of Els for Autism is to transform the lives of people with autism and those who care for them through lifetime services and collaborative partnerships.

The tennis instructor is responsible for providing 45 minute coaching sessions to small groups of participants on the Autism Spectrum using the Ernie Els #GameOnAutism Tennis Program. Duties include:

+ Help players develop needed skills such as forehand, backhand, volley, serving, etc. through the use of meaningful instructional drills and activities using evidence based teaching practices and strategies

+ Utilize systematic instruction to build upon previously learned skills

+ Work with players to build autism specific social and communication skills

+ Utilize systematic prompting and fading strategies during skill acquisition, practice and maintenance

+ Create spaces and procedures that will keep participants safe during activities and ensure all participants are actively engaged

+ Provide direction to volunteers, rec assistants or interns providing participant support as needed

+ Support data collection initiatives as needed

Work schedule:

3 hours on Monday and Friday afternoons with the possibility of one additional afternoon for a maximum of 10-12 hours per week. Classes are taught at the Els for Autism Campus in Jupiter FL.

Minimum Qualifications:

+ Experience teaching/coaching tennis to children, teenagers and adults

+ Experience working with individuals with Autism and other developmental disabilities

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Associate or Bachelors degree in education, sports science, therapeutic recreation or other fitness related field

+ Experience in tennis programming for individuals with autism or related developmental disabilities
