Job description
Under the supervision of the Director - Technical Accounting, the incumbent, prepares and maintains all leases, in accordance with ASC 842, related to Seminole Gaming as well as Hard Rock International properties utilizing the software lease query.
Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
- Adheres to the Seminole Tribe of Florida's Policies and Procedures.
- Reviews all leases and determines the appropriate recording and treatment.
- Continues to maintain leases on a monthly basis working with the properties to confirm if any new leases or if leases have expired.
- Inputs all new leases into lease query and updates lease query with expired or terminated leases.
- Records journal entries into the general ledger system on a periodic basis for leases. The journal entries are generated from the lease query software
- Establishes processes and procedures to effectively record all leases in accordance with ASC 842 lease standards.
- Reviews and verifies the balance sheet accounts associated with the leases and verifies that they agree to the lease query sub-ledger by property.
- Provides the properties with the sub-ledger of all leases in order to get approval from the properties with respect to completeness.
- Provides support to the properties with respect to any questions related to the accounting treatment of leases.
- Prepares extensive financial analysis of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s lease expense to determine if there are any issues with the recording of the leases themselves.
- Identifies variances from budgets.
- Works with external auditors and provides them all documentation and information related to the recording of leases.
- Periodically will confirm with the properties and coordinate property visits to determine the existence of leased property.
- Assists the corporate operations accounting team and financial reporting team on an ad-hoc basis, time permitting, after leases are managed effectively.
- Projects as required
Experience:
- Bachelor of Arts/Science degree in Accounting required as well as four (6) years of accounting and supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Must possess excellent time management skills.
- Ability to effectively analyze data.
- Corporate accounting experience preferred
- Preferred knowledge of hotel casino operations, however not required
