Position Title: Custodial Shift Supervisor
Pay Grade: 5
Period of Employment: 12 months

Supervised by and/or Reports to: Head Custodian, School Administrators
General Responsibilities : Supervises staff and assist in building sanitation, ensuring a clean and orderly environment.

- Performs all general custodial and cleaning responsibilities.
- Advises head custodian of cleaning supply shortages and the need for maintenance work orders.
- Facilitates building usage by staff and rental customers.
- Assists in snow/ice removal from sidewalks and parking lots during inclement weather.
- Operates heating, lighting, and electrical controls as well as school security systems and fire safety systems.
- Creates and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers, building occupants, and the general public.
- Makes minor or general repairs to school furniture, equipment, or the building itself.
- Opens the building on weekends if necessary.
- Inspects the building at night and assists with securing the building at the end of his or her shift.
- Keeps forms, records, or paperwork assigned by the head custodian.
- Verifies that the evening shift work is completed.
- Supervises custodial staff in the head custodian's absence.
- Informs the head custodian and/or a building administrator of pertinent personnel matters, and maintains confidentiality about those matters.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Awareness of fire and health safety involved in the care of the building.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards of all custodial tasks.
- Ability to supervise custodial staff in duties and assignments in the absence of the head custodian.
- General knowledge of custodial operations.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment.
- Ability to read and follow directions.
- Ability to life a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Serve as role model.
Requisite Education and Experience: - Custodial experience required.
- Must be able to read, including cleaning product labels.
- Must be able to write.
Physical Requirements: Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physically capable of effectively using and operating various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to: a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, or repetitive motions required. Must be able to life a minimum of 50 lbs.
