JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: University Health Services (UHS), a department within the division of Student Affairs has an excellent opportunity for a Medical Technologist , for its comprehensive on-campus healthcare resource specializing in outpatient student health including the treatment of medically urgent problems and ongoing health concerns. UHS provides preventive care, education, and resources to help students live a healthy lifestyle.
The qualified candidate is responsible for obtaining and preparing laboratory specimens and performing all diagnostic testing and related quality controls. This is a generalist job with rotation in chemistry, hematology, serology/immunology and microbiology.
Education Requirements: Typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Current certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology is preferred.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must be proficient in venipuncture technique.
Must have experience in the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of various laboratory analyzers and computer systems.
This is a full-time position, requiring approximately one weekend a month during the fall and spring semesters for a full day on Saturday. Other hours are limited for microbiology coverage on Saturday and Sundays throughout the year. This position requires the following clearances :
