What you will be doing... - Coordinate all services needed by the patient and family focusing primarily on the safe administration of oncology/hematology treatments, education of the patient and family, and optimal quality of life for all patients and families.
- Use current pharmacy resources and information relating to storage, admixture, stability, infusion times, and appropriate therapy to prepare and administer chemotherapy/immunotherapy agents as ordered by the physician. Maintains safe handling policy and procedures related to cytotoxic exposure. Utilizes correct rate and dosage calculations for safe treatment administration.
- Obtain and analyze laboratory specimens according to procedure manual and physician orders.
- Perform patient assessments utilizing the nursing process components - assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating relevancy to established standards and plan of care, and emphasis on achievement of patient outcome.
- Document relevant patient care information, demonstrating the implementation of the nursing process, relevancy to established standards and plan of care, and emphasis on achievement of patient outcome.
- Complete patient assessment for venous access, uses central venous access devices within current standards, and able to troubleshoot potential and actual venous access problems.
- Educate patients and families regarding the disease process, methods of treatment, potential side effects, expected follow-up and potential outcomes.
- Provide counseling to oncology patients/significant other in order to help meet psychosocial and emotional needs. Functions as patient/significant other advocate.
- Coordinate patient care with physicians, hospitals, and home health nurses to facilitate or implement the appropriate plan of care and achieve acceptable patient outcomes.
- Work as assigned phone nurse answering telephone calls from patients/family members regarding nursing/medical questions, prescription refills, etc. documenting in the Electronic Medical Record System.
- Practice ethically and in a manner that is congruent with cultural diversity and inclusion principles.
- Comply with all practice policies and procedures including CCAY's Code of Conduct.

Requirements
What makes you qualified? - Nursing diploma, Associate's Degree required or higher preferred
- Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse is required, issued by the PA State Board of Nursing.
- CPR certification
- Two (2) years of staff nursing as a RN or 1 (year) oncology experience as a RN or equivalent.
