GARNEY CONSTRUCTION

A Graphic Design Intern position in Kansas City, MO  is available at Garney Construction.  In this role, you will support an ambitious team that thrives on collaboration and innovation. Garney Construction is a growing, employee owned water and wastewater general contractor. The internship position will provide an opportunity for a currently enrolled college student to gather graphic design and marketing knowledge from a construction company perspective. This position will involve learning from and working with talented Senior Graphic Designers focused on building and maintaining the high brand standards of Garney Construction. We offer hands-on experience to leverage your classroom knowledge and convert it into professional skills. The creative internship is a full-time position taking place during the summer at our Kansas City, Missouri, office over a three-month period, available for class credit.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Work with the Creative Team to:
  • Create libraries of supporting graphics for marketing pursuits
  • Attend Creative Team meetings and design reviews
  • Create, edit, and update branded documents
• Provide support to our Internal and External Communications Team
• Assist with updating and adding to our Digital Asset Management (DAM) system
• Complete administrative support tasks for the Marketing Team
• Manage deadlines and responsibilities assigned
• Attend project site visits to gain technical industry knowledge
• Prepare and give project presentations

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Electronic Arts, or other related field
• Extensive experience in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, Premiere, and more)
• High level of motivation—a go-getter willing to go the extra mile
• Excellent organization and written/verbal communication skills
• Active listener with a strong work ethic
• Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to deliver quality work that meets requirements and deadlines
• Strong design eye that can easily distinguish good design from poor design
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) as well as social media
