BASE PAY: $50k-$55k
POTENTIAL PAY AFTER COMMISION: $60k-$70k
Additional Earned Commission paid monthly
Irrigation Repair Technician
BASIC FUNCTION: Performs skilled work in the maintenance and repair of irrigation systems, and all other equipment associated with irrigation systems. Also includes water scheduling of all Embassy properties.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

- · Installs and repairs the more complex components of an irrigation and sprinkler system which may include controllers, flow meters, master control valves, and other related irrigation components.
- · Identifies and troubleshoots problem areas with irrigation systems, including checking valves, backflow devices, clocks and timers, electrical irrigation devices and flow meters. Make repairs when necessary.
- · Performs water audits and requests independent water audits of rates to determine if an area is being over or under watered. Determines optimum watering times and coverage. Reviews audit results and makes adjustments to water scheduling and irrigation programming of specific sites.
- · Explains and interprets specifications, blueprints and drainage of irrigation systems and sprinkler controls to lower-level personnel.
- · Maintains an inventory of repair parts for all related equipment.
- · Maintains accurate records of all functions.
- · Sets watering schedules for all irrigation systems operated by the Embassy to plant, soil, and environmental conditions.
- · Adjusts watering schedules for functions that take place at Embassy properties by coordinating with Account & Property Managers.
- · Installs and repairs irrigation systems including valve boxes, sprinkler heads, and pipe and irrigation clocks. Maintains irrigation sprinklers by cleaning and adjusting heads, digging up and repairing broken lines and altering controls as necessary.
- · Perform related duties as may be assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- · Inspect, test and repair backflow assemblies.
- · Standard practices, methods, tools and materials used in irrigation maintenance trades.
- · Safe work methods and safety regulations pertaining to irrigation maintenance.
- · Good knowledge of basic arithmetic, personal computers and peripheral hardware; and water auditing practices and procedures.
- · Ability to operate a keyboard, ability to read and understand irrigation plans, residential development plans and street maps.
- · Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
- · Skill in the use of hand power tools and be able to operate small backhoes, and trenchers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and 5 year's experience with irrigation systems. Must have an understanding of equipment used for backflow prevention. AWWA Certification as a general tester for backflow prevention equipment highly desirable.
LICENSES:
- · Certification through the Irrigation Association to perform water audits (CLIA).
- · Backflow preventer certified
- · Certified through the Irrigation Association as Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT)
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
May perform physically demanding manual work including lifting, pushing or pulling heavy objects; shoveling, hoeing, raking and standing on ladders; climbing, standing and walking for sustained periods of time; and operating, repairing and maintaining meters, valves, electrical control systems, and miscellaneous irrigation equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
May be subject to adverse weather conditions, toxic agents, and hazards associated with the operation of various motor driven and hand-held power tools and equipment.
