Job description

Overview

The Agency of Transportation (AOT) is seeking multiple Technicians to work at the North Hero-Grand Isle drawbridge located on US Route 2. These positions are responsible for operating the drawbridge, which includes stopping traffic, and raising and lowering both decks of the drawbridge so that boats can travel through.


These are seasonal positions, and the drawbridge is open from May 15 to October 15, from 8am to 8pm daily. However, specific work schedules will be determined based on the number of Technicians and their flexibility.

Who May Apply

This position, Drawbridge Technician III - Temporary (Job Requisition #49643) , is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering technology, environmental technology, surveying, construction technology, architecture, construction management, or related technical field AND one (1) year of experience performing engineering support tasks involved in one or more of the following: planning, surveying, design, inspection, construction, research and statistics, testing, investigation, maintenance or construction of various types of civil engineering projects.

OR

Associate degree in civil engineering, environmental technology, engineering technology, surveying, construction technology, architecture, or related field AND three (3) years of experience as described above.

OR

High school graduation or equivalent AND five (5) years of experience as described above.

OR

One (1) year as an AOT Technician II with the State of Vermont.
