Position Overview:

The Integrative Anthropology Lab is looking to recruit a post-doctoral scholar to study ritual and religion among the Mentawai people (Siberut, Indonesia) with a focus on traditions that explain and deal with misfortune. This is a two-year position and partly funded by a grant from the Templeton Religion Trust. Potential research topics include shamanism, witchcraft, beliefs in local spirits, healing ceremonies, hunting magic, funerals, and local models of illness. The scholar will work closely with Prof. Manvir Singh to design and conduct field studies that include both qualitative and quantitative methods. This is a full-time position with an annual salary beginning at $64,480 plus UC Davis fringe benefits. UC Davis is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer.
