PRIMARY FUNCTION
As a member of the Electrical and Software Team, the team member is primarily responsible for developing proven technology into new products. The team member will be responsible for participating in all steps of the electrical system design: architecture design, board level design, interfacing to sensors and actuators, and cabling.
The team member works closely with cross functional team members, establishes plans to complete work packages, develops and executes verification plans, and communicates results.
The team member will be able to work independently, under the overall direction of a senior engineer or direct management.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Product Architectural Design
- Review customer requirements & define technical specifications.
- Work with the firmware team to define hardware/software interface.
- Analyze sensor and actuator candidates and determine solutions.
- Create electrical architectures & compare solutions.
- Product Implementation
- Design boards from schematic capture through layout.
- Build prototype boards and test their functionality.
- Review code from others and provide comments.
- Product Testing
- Define test plans for module & system tests based on department standards and/or guidance from senior engineers.
- Verify product functions, assessing boundary conditions of designs.
- Manufacturing Support
- Create documentation & drawings used for board fabrication & assembly.
- Create manufacturing test specifications based on test concept approach.
- Clearly and effectively communicate to internal and external team members and stakeholders.
- Work both individually and on a team.
- Some international travel is required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be authorized to work in the United States at time of hiring.
- Must be ready to work on site 3-4 days a week.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- 5+ years of product development experience in an industrial, medical or consumer industry.
- Experience with analog and mixed signal board level design.
- Lab equipment experience (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, LCR meter, etc.)
- Capable of writing simple embedded C code for prototyping in early project stages & feasibility studies
- Ability to communicate and collaborate across functional groups and diverse audiences, while working in a dynamic team and project focused environment
- Strong problem-solving skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with a variety of sensors and/or actuators.
- Proven ability to understand circuits designed with discrete transistors.
- Proven ability to architect, design, and write production-quality code in C for embedded applications.
- Experience with motors up to 3HP.
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC design requirements and testing.
- Ability to write own applications for testing.
- Familiar with operating wood working tools.
