IUSM FACULTY AFFAIRS (IN-DMFT-IUINA)
Department Information The School of Medicine has over 7,000 paid and unpaid faculty. Faculty Affairs and Professional Development (FAPD) provides support to those faculty in areas of professional development, career planning, leadership training, teaching skills enhancement, and many others. FAPD also provides guidance to HR and other staff that support the faculty through traditional HR functions, like recruiting and hiring, onboarding, leaves of absence, employee relations, etc. The vision of FAPD is to develop a vibrant, healthy, diverse, and inclusive community where everyone can thrive and advance the school's mission and cultivate its core values.

Job Summary Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Counsels and advises department HR staff on faculty recruiting and appointments, offers, and eDocs.
- Serves as team lead for the faculty HR coordinators in the unit. Will triage issues and inquiries that are escalated.
- Manages the reappointment process in collaboration with IUI Faculty Affairs.
- Analyzes data to find errors and implement a solution to resolve the errors.
- Maintains standard operating procedures for the team.
- Collaborates with the Assistant Director of Faculty Relations, to investigate faculty relations issues and manage learner mistreatment complaints, honor code violations, and reporting of these activities.
- Trains and orients department HR staff on faculty policies and procedures.
- Manages FMLA and other leaves for faculty.
General Responsibilities
- Counsels employees and management on various HR topics and functions; communicates and shares understanding of various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations.
- Researches, responds to, and addresses various employee relation issues such as FMLA, employee complaints, workers compensation, etc.
- Develops in-depth knowledge and skill in various HR functions, in addition to growing knowledge in HR policies, procedures, and legal requirements to provide quality HR guidance to employees and managers.
- Develops a thorough understanding of the business strategy and culture for RC, school or department.
- Contributes and/or manages various HR activities, projects, or initiatives, such as recruitment, onboarding, engagement, or performance management.
- Researches and stays up-to-date on relevant HR topics.
- Helps foster a positive culture and work environment; ensures and promotes an environment of diversity and inclusion.
- May conduct research and analysis for local/department HR team or COE partners and develops solutions and recommends course of action.
- May lead small projects or activities.
Qualifications Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
EDUCATION
Required - Bachelor's degree required (degree in Human Resources preferred).
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Preferred - SHRM-CP/PHR within 1 year from date of hire.
SKILLS

Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
