Job description

Position Summary:

Get involved with the T3 (Teaching Through Technology) Summer Program as a College Mentor or Summer Instructor! We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic leaders to join our team. Staff will be responsible for providing a fun and safe learning environment for high school students from Rural and Interior Alaska interested in using technology to solve community based problems. They will facilitate hands-on activities, group projects, and interactive lessons during the summer program to inspire and engage participants.

They will facilitate hands-on activities, group projects, and interactive lessons during the summer program to inspire and engage participants.


Introduction to T3 Experience, June 3-29, welcomes students who have completed grades 8-10 and are new to the Upward Bound and T3 Alaska programs. The Introduction Session has three strands that broadly explore earth monitoring sensors, drones (UAVs), and Makerspace equipment.


Advanced T3 Community Engagement, July 7-26, invites advanced students who have completed grades 10-12 or are returning summer program students who seek to continue their learning. Students attending the Advanced Session will apply their knowledge relating to the three strands: energy, climate, and ocean science.

To thrive in this role you will need a passion and desire to inspire students to learn, grow and work as a team. You will need a passion for working outdoors and able to adapt to changes in circumstances and schedules quickly.

Minimum Qualifications:

Preferred Experience and Education:


Experience running/counseling/teaching at summer camps or similar after school programs.
Experience working with secondary students on collaborative team projects
Tech literacy (i.e. simple coding, using field equipment, digital file organization)
Growth Mindset



Required Experience and Education:

College Mentor Position:
College Enrollment



Summer Instructor Position:


Have a valid driver's license/or ability to obtain one.
Have a clean driving record that includes the following
At least 3 years of driving experience
No convictions for two or more moving violations in the past 3 years
No convictions of driving under the influence or alcohol or drugs in the last 3 years
Has experience developing programs/curriculums or teaching secondary students

Position Details:

This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. This is a full-time, exempt temporary faculty position. New hires will be placed on a salary that is based on education and experience.
