POSITION SUMMARY
Marathon Petroleum Company LP is looking for a full-time Supply Chain Associate. This position will report to the Supply Chain Manager (RM & TAR) and be located in Texas City, Texas. Duties include routine and strategic procurement of materials/equipment/services for the refining facility. Candidates must be dynamic self-starters who work collaboratively, are results oriented, and driven by continuous improvement and learning. The objective of the role is to develop and execute commercial strategies and sourcing solutions associated with the daily operations of the refinery. The qualified candidate will identify and manage business partner and supplier relations, analyze and develop commercial business cases, perform commercial bids, negotiate with suppliers, and administer transactions in accordance with Supply Chain policies and procedures.
**Grade 7-8. This position is part of a job family with multiple levels. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications**.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
- Receives and reviews purchase requisitions for materials/equipment/services for completeness and proper level of approval. Evaluates competitive bids and quotations against purchase order commitments, maintains documentation as appropriate for all purchases.
- Procures materials, equipment, and services for assigned commodities in best interest of company. Ensures transactions are managed in seamless process from order entry through invoice payment.
- Expedites purchase commitments to ensure on time delivery and acceptable performance by suppliers, to meet the needs of business partners.
- Ensures the proper use of tools and systems provided to monitor, verify and implement Supply Chain controls, including supplier agreements, bidding documents, scope of work, supplier/contractor performance measurements, supplier/contractor qualification and any other documents related to commercial management.
- Utilizes practices such as RFQs, bid analysis, direct negotiations and partnering to ensure maximum value for expenditures. Seeks new practices and methods to increase value of supply.
- Identifies process improvements to maximize supplier performance.
- Represents, establishes, and manages Supply Chain relationship with the business partner organization, with a focus on customer service.
- Liaises with other Supply Chain and Law professionals to ensure that contractual terms and conditions are acceptable and serve to minimize risk.
- Maintains awareness of current market conditions, new products, alternative sources, and new technologies/substitutes within Supply Chain.
- Identifies and resolves purchase order and invoice discrepancies. Works collaboratively with Accounts Payable, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure timely goods receipt and payment.
- Performs moderately complex price analysis based on few variables and confers with suppliers to obtain product information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

Education and Experience
- Degree: A Bachelor’s Degree is required; preferred majors include Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, and Engineering.
- Computer Proficiencies: Applicants must be proficient with Microsoft Office software including Excel. SAP experience (S4 modules) a plus.
- Work Experience: Entry Level – 2+ years of relevant experience with materials and inventory buying. Knowledge of the petrochemical industry is highly desired.
