The role Job Position Purpose / Summary This Sr. Director, Engineering will be responsible for providing leadership for the identification/implementation of business imperatives and delivery of improved business results to achieve strategic objectives. This position reports to the SVP Global Supply Chain and Procurement and is accountable for the development of the global product supply strategy for regional sourcing/automation and utilizing Continuous Improvement tools and techniques - such as strategy deployment, problem-solving, visual management, and value stream mapping - to identify transformational business projects and initiatives. Once identified, the Engineering Director will be responsible for driving these projects and initiatives to completion. The position is expected to influence and drive results across all manufacturing Plants and supply chain organizations around the globe.
The Sr. Director will lead the direction of the Engineering Strategy and have responsibility for managing 3-5 direct resources, and over 20 indirect individual contributors. This role will lead semi-automation and automation initiatives, manufacturing footprint, outsourcing of back-office work content, and many other Engineering Initiatives.
Expectations:
Key Accountabilities: - Lead the development of the global Product Supply Strategy for Regional Sourcing and Automation
- Provide technical leadership on new and existing medical devices, by supervising the design and development of molding and extrusion processes and related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with low defect levels and low product cost.
- Manage the capital appropriations and monitor execution.
- Provide leadership to ensure the seamless coordination, execution and integration, and establishment of a CI operating system by driving synergies (processes, resources, best practices) across regions and countries.
- Provide CI leadership for major business projects and initiatives by applying CI thinking and tools while working collaboratively to ensure initiatives are aligned with the overall business strategy and supportive of one or more strategy pillars
- Provide leadership for deputies with project responsibilities to ensure project objectives are achieved in support of sector/enterprise objectives
- Drive completion of identified business transformation initiatives by developing clear change strategies, dimensioning business impact/benefits, and overseeing implementation/execution
- Communicate fully with business executives, staff team members, and mill personnel to ensure successful change management; provide routine and comprehensive updates on plan status with a clear line of sight to cost and delivered benefits
- Provide leadership to ensure this organization attracts, develops, and retains the best people while fostering an environment that motivates a diverse team to fully use its capabilities to achieve desired business results
- Lead strategy deployment with the Supply Chain Leaders to determine and communicate transformational strategies to improve the Supply Chain.
- Streamline operating systems to eliminate redundancy, create scale and enable synergies throughout Corporate Teams to the shop floor.
- Support the development of CI-enabled KPIs to monitor organizational health, complexity, and effectiveness and develop implementation/corrective plans as appropriate
- Define, develop and sustain the scientific management system (PDCA) for Supply Chain.
- Provide Leadership to develop the key thinker roles for the strategic areas
- Influence an environment that embraces CI concepts and principles by ensuring subject matter expertise is provided through CI experts, Senseis or outside consultants as needed.
- Provide leadership to support the improvement of total delivered costs, reduced variability and improved supply chain effectiveness (supplier through customer) by ensuring discipline and focus to processes.
- Provide leadership to fully leverage external, and internal, benchmarking and standardization within the organization.
- Provide leadership to fully leverage standard practices to minimize waste and enable continuous improvement to drive improved business results, e.g., visual management and value stream mapping
- Develop and ensure implementation of training systems that build capability and drive simplification of systems and practices.
- Ensure a ready and able pool of talent exists to meet current and future Engineering function needs and capabilities.
- Align management system with specific operating, financial policies, programs, procedures and internal control systems to direct and coordinate the general policies and procedures established by the Corporation (in conjunction with other group and support leadership).
Key Relationships / Customer Expectations Communication Leadership: - Delivers presentations on project status (with appropriate core project team members) at various Governance meetings (cross-functional Corp Reviews, SLT member's Staff meetings, Franchise Leadership meetings, Project Reviews, Investment Boards, etc.)
- Communicates decisions, direction, and issues from Governance meetings (SLT, Franchise, Project Reviews, etc.) to the core project team members with rationale and vice versa, including updates to project documentation repositories.
Business Acumen: - Understands business goals, objectives, and strategies and uses these to drive project cost management (business case, budget)
Project Management: - Effectively initiates, plans, executes, monitors and controls, and closes complex projects/programs.
- Partner with the finance cost team on tracking and reporting.
- Facilitates core project team meetings, sets agendas, and issues minutes that accurately represent the point of view of the team (includes Decisions Made).

Your qualifications Required: - Bachelor's Degree
- Project Management Certification or equivalent required
- Generally, 10+ years' experience in increasingly broader technical or operational roles with demonstrated track record of achievement and growth in leadership.
- 15+ years of successfully managing high-profile business projects.
- Successful track record of project management leading cross-functional teams to deliver medical device products from concept to commercialization.
- Extensive and broad managerial experience in various functions supply chain functions with demonstrated results and strength in leadership Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.
- Close working relationships with Business Teams.
Preferred :
- Experience across multiple functions.
- Technical knowledge of processes and products.

- Cross-functional knowledge throughout the supply chain (manufacturing, distribution, planning, sourcing and supply, transportation) including demonstrated knowledge of financial metrics and drivers
- Project Management in the regulated environment with a preference toward the medical device industry.
