Job description
Reporting to the Group VP, Finance & Chief Accounting Officer, the primary role of the Director, Strategic Sourcing will be to develop sourcing strategies, maintain positive relationships with suppliers, and partner with key stakeholders cross-functionally in negotiations on major contracts. The candidate should have experience directing and identifying sourcing and savings opportunities across the spectrum of business operations. Monitors the terms, cost, and schedule of major contracts and subcontracts.
The successful candidate will manage and optimize sourcing activities and processes. The candidate will possess excellent leadership abilities, strong communication skills, foster collaboration, and be service-focused. The candidate should have the ability and desire to be part of a team and work in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple projects at once.
This role is based in our Lexington, MA office location. Our office-based employees follow a hybrid schedule of 4 days in the office, and 1 day remote.
Responsibilities (includes but not limited to): - Partners with key stakeholders to establish sourcing strategies aligned with the company's overall objectives, ensuring effective sourcing of materials, components, and services
- Responsible for vendor management and building strong, strategic partnerships with key third party suppliers
- Manages contracts, negotiates favorable business terms and conditions, and maintains productive, long-term relationship with vendors
- Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other metrics to measure vendor performance and adherence with contract terms
- Monitor market trends, conduct RFPs, engage in price negotiations, and implement cost-saving initiatives while remaining mindful of quality and delivery timelines
- Develops, communicates, and enforces company policies and procedures for purchasing
- Manages policies and metrics to ensure that savings goals are realized
- Maintains the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation
- Partners with supply chain, as appropriate, to determine and ensure favorable inventory needs
- Ensures that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications
- Prepares cost estimates and manages budgets
- Responsible for managing touch points between other functional groups (Legal, Purchasing, Finance, Compliance, etc.) to ensure alignment with existing process and policies
Qualifications: - Requires a bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field with 10+ years of industry experience; experience in Biotech/Life Sciences highly preferred
- Experience with clinical outsourcing and CMO manufacturing a plus
- Strategic sourcing and procurement experience with extensive knowledge of category management and complex contract negotiations expertise in direct and indirect procurement
- Willingness to work in a dynamic and fast-paced corporate environment
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey strategies and results to a diverse audience
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively at all levels across the organization working with both internal and external stakeholders
- Exemplary ability to manage cross-functional teams, influence without authority, and complete projects based on strict timelines
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, listening, facilitation, and communication skills
- The ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information
- Self-starter who can clearly take initiative, work independently, and make decisions during periods of ambiguity
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong commitment to compliance and ethical standards
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)
