Job Overview:
Sanford Federal Inc. is looking to hire an experienced Protestant Youth Ministry Coordinator to help provide Chapel Support Services for the US Air Force Base Chapel in Colorado.
Job Details:
The Protestant Youth Coordinator shall plan, coordinate, and carry out a comprehensive Protestant Religious Education program for Middle and Senior High youth. The Protestant Youth Coordinator consults and coordinates with the Deputy Wing Chaplain.
Location:
- 10 ABW Chapel USAF Academy, Colorado.
Requirements & Skills:
- Have at least two years of Protestant religious education or youth ministry experience. Strong preference shall be given to applicants who have experience in military service Protestant programs. A Protestant formal religious associate or bachelor education degree is preferred.
- Have a letter of good standing from the contractor's local pastor must be furnished with initial documentation. The letter must state the individual is familiar with Protestant theology, Biblical teachings, and Christian calendar. Letter must be no older than 6 months.
- Be able to plan and coordinate special projects approved by the Deputy Wing Chaplain. Submit and file an After Action Report (AAR) for future reference.
- Possess a basic working knowledge of church budgets.
- Have the ability to work cooperatively with chapel staff and members of other faith groups for ecumenical, combined and inter-faith youth activities.
Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for recruiting, training and assisting all volunteers for Protestant youth programs.
- Maintain a monthly schedule of youth activities; coordinate fund, event and facility requests, with prior approval from the Deputy Wing Chaplain.
- Consult with the Deputy Wing Chaplain, develop and submit an annual calendar of youth fellowship events to the Protestant Chaplain.
- Coordinate weekly, monthly, or as needed with the Deputy Wing Chaplain to inform the chaplain on upcoming youth activity needs, concerns and plans.
- Maintain flexible office or event hours at the Community Chapel at least four days during each week. A total of 15 hours per week is expected to include any meetings, trainings, office hours and programs. The Community Chapel will provide a GOV, printer, filing cabinets, bookcases, expendable office supplies and other items deemed necessary to perform services described in this PWS.
- Submit a CTOF budget prior to 1 May for the future fiscal year budget.
- Publicize youth activities by suspense dates and get approval from the Deputy Wing Chaplain before bulletins, newsletters, posters, and any other publications before distribution.
- Attend monthly Protestant Advisory Council (PAC) meetings as a voting member and weekly chapel staff meetings.
- Arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to scheduled youth activities.
- At a minimum, coordinate, plan, lead and participate on an annual retreat and/or mission trip for the youth. Retreat funded by CTOF or Gift Funds, to include food, lodging, and transportation.
- Contractor must maintain all applicable certifications associated with this position.
- Plan a youth Religious Education program three times per month. In addition, plan one youth activity a minimum of once per month (four sessions per month).
- Provide an annual review of the program in May by providing a summary of activity, trends and progress from the preceding year. Include information and suggestions regarding future program direction.
- Conduct parent meetings in order to advise parents about the youth ministry programs, goals and needs. Encourage parents to be active participants in the youth ministry program. Educate parents in the phases that their youth may be going through and things to watch for in their spiritual development.
- Provide written AARs on all special events and retreats to include suggested changes of direction, trends, and problem areas within one week of completion of the event to the designated chaplain.
- Recruit volunteers from the chapel services to assist in the execution of the program.
- Procure a Government issued driver's license (GOV) from the Logistics Readiness Squadron so that base transportation can be used for youth activities.
