Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance proprietary software.
- Collaborate in setting the direction for the overall technical architecture of our tools and systems.
- Act as a key member of the software engineering team, establishing and maintaining industry-standard best practices in code review, architecture patterns, and deployments.
- Contribute full-stack features to applications and participate in application-agnostic platform initiatives.
- Manage individual and team-wide project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Contribute to the creation of department-level goals.
- Develop a deep understanding of key topics in AEC (Architecture, Engineering, & Construction) and align them with the company's mission and vision.
- Optionally, engage in speaking at conferences, writing articles, and promoting the company's work and practices.
- Conduct technical investigations on open-ended problems and form well-researched opinions on technical decisions.
- Collaborate with other disciplines on the team, including product management, design, and business development.
- Proactively communicate with team members and external clients.
- Act as a mentor when appropriate and foster a culture of constant learning.
Required Skills:
- Outcome-oriented, creative, and proactive personality with a positive attitude.
- Ability to scope and manage complex tasks across multiple domains and teams within the 1-3 month timeframe.
- Skill in systems thinking and software architecture.
- Experience with software deployments, DevOps, and developer productivity tooling.
- Deep experience with Java.
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) /AZURE/AWSand Spanner DB.
- Enthusiasm for collaborative work, valuing projects that involve bouncing ideas off each other and swapping responsibilities for efficient progress.
- Strong communication skills in a remote/distributed work environment, using written documents, Slack, Hangouts, phone, and email.
- Passion for mentorship and empathy, supporting early career engineers and those from non-traditional backgrounds.
- 4-7 years of experience in a professional software engineering role or equivalent.
- Experience or interest in AEC is a significant plus.
