Overview:
SVCC Sports Program is seeking an enthusiastic and organized Assistant Camp Director to contribute to the success of our summer camp programs. The Assistant Camp Director will work closely with the Camp Director to ensure the safe and enjoyable experience of campers, manage daily operations, and support the implementation of engaging and educational activities. This position requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a passion for creating positive and memorable camp experiences.
Responsibilities:
1. Program Development and Implementation:
- Collaborate with the Camp Director to plan and execute a diverse range of camp activities, ensuring they align with the camp's mission and values.
- Assist in developing schedules, coordinating logistics, and overseeing the implementation of daily programs.
2. Camper and Staff Supervision:
- Support the recruitment, training, and supervision of camp staff.
- Oversee camper check-in, orientation, and ensure the well-being and safety of all campers.
3. Safety and Emergency Response:
- Work closely with the Camp Director to enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of camp facilities and equipment.
4. Parent and Community Engagement:
- Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates on camp activities and addressing any concerns.
- Foster positive relationships with the local community and organizations.
5. Administrative Duties:
- Assist in maintaining accurate camper records, including health forms and emergency contact information.
6. Staff Development:
- Contribute to the professional development of camp staff through training sessions and ongoing support.
- Encourage a positive and collaborative work environment among camp staff.
7. Camper Experience Enhancement:
- Implement strategies to enhance the overall camper experience, promoting a sense of community and belonging.
- Seek feedback from campers and staff to continuously improve camp operations.
8. Environmental Stewardship:
- Instill environmental awareness and responsible practices among campers and staff.
- Implement eco-friendly initiatives within camp operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education, recreation, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience in a camp environment, preferably in a leadership role.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Knowledge of camp management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including weekends, during the camp season.
