The Manufacturing Scientist I for Lumigen, a subsidiary of Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, is responsible for the formulation of chemiluminescent reagents for clinical diagnostic testing. The Manufacturing Scientist will also synthesize, purify, and analyze organic molecules.

This position is part of the Lumigen Production Department located in Southfield, Michigan and will be On-site. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.

You will be a part of the Reagent Manufacturing Team and report to the Manager Reagent Manufacturing responsible for medical diagnostic reagent formulations and chemical processes. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Produce formulation from less than one liter to multi-thousand liter quantities
• Conduct performance testing of completed formulations
• Synthesize and purify organic molecules
• Conduct analytical testing of organic molecules
• Overseeing training of a process assistant

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field with 0+ years of experience
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and climb stairs & ladders
• Pass and maintain certification for using a lift truck (forklift or powered pallet jack)
• Experience with general organic chemistry synthetic techniques
• Ability to maintain batch record keeping to ISO 9001 standards

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• NMR & UV/Vis Spectroscopy
• Work productivity software (MS Outlook, Word, and Excel)
