Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Human Resources at The Sheraton Palo Alto will work closely with the Director of Human Resources to oversee and manage all aspects of the hotel's human resources department. This individual will serve as a vital member of the management team, ensuring a positive and productive work environment for all employees. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for developing and implementing HR policies and procedures to comply with all local, state, and federal laws.
Compensation & Benefits:
The salary for this full-time, individual contributor role is between $110,000 and $115,000 per year, paid biweekly. In addition, the Sheraton Palo Alto offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources to develop and implement HR strategies to achieve the hotel's goals and objectives
- Oversee all aspects of the recruitment and selection process, including job postings and candidate screenings
- Manage the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience
- Provide guidance and support to managers in areas such as employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary actions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and ensure compliance with all HR laws and regulations
- Administer and coordinate employee benefits programs
- Coordinate and facilitate training and development programs for employees
- Conduct exit interviews and analyze trends to identify areas for improvement
- Work closely with the Director of Human Resources to create and implement diversity and inclusion initiatives
- Act as a liaison between management and employees to effectively communicate HR-related information
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in HR to make recommendations for continuous improvement
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of human resources experience, preferably in the hospitality industry
- Strong knowledge and understanding of local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
- Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated experience in recruitment and selection processes
- Experience with employee relations and performance management
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred.
