Department Summary:

The University of North Texas is a Tier One Research University in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex – the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the United States. Position Summary:

The College of Education at the University of North Texas seeks a nationally recognized scholar to fill a tenured full professor position as the Meadows Endowed Chair for Excellence in Education. The appointment, which begins fall 2024, is in the Department of Teacher Education and Administration (TE&A), one of four departments in the college. The successful individual will join a faculty that is dedicated to quality in education and scholarship and that seeks to make significant contributions at local, state, national, and international levels. Of particular interest to the College of Education are candidates who are committed to improving people’s lives through powerful learning, social-emotional wellness, physical health, civic engagement, and equity-centered education.

The Meadows Chair is expected to maintain an active research agenda of national importance, to develop externally funded support for programs and projects, to teach and mentor students, and to collaborate with others to achieve the academic goals of the university, college, and department. They will take a lead in developing interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary partnerships and in directing research initiatives. Minimum Qualifications:

  • The candidate should hold a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, Teacher Education, Educational Equity, Learning Sciences, Early Childhood Education, Educational Leadership and Policy, or a related area, and must be qualified to assume the rank of full professor with tenure.
  • Also required is a strong and sustained record of research with an identified scholarly focus, a record of success in securing external funding for research, and a clear agenda for substantive work in the future. The candidate’s research should align with one or more of the following areas: language and literacy studies, STEM/STEAM education, educational leadership and policy, or teacher education.
  • The candidate should have teaching experience using multiple technologies and the ability to teach and develop courses for online instruction making use of new technologies to further support just, equitable and inclusive education.
  • Teaching experience in public schools and/or other educational settings is required
Preferred Qualifications:

At least three years of teaching experience in EC-12 settings is preferred.
