Job Description Summary
Electrical Engineer responsible for oversight and execution of Generator and Rotor Test Facilities including Factory Run Tests and Balances. Technical and hands on engineering role tied to the production team of the Steam Turbine and Generator Manufacturing Factory. Function semi-autonomously to plan, direct, and perform factory tests of large power generating equipment while assessing and maintaining test facility operability and capabilities.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop, author and maintain electrical test procedures; develop, author, maintain and conduct electrical training for Generator team
- Operate with proficiency around and within high voltage electrical test systems
- Oversee electrical engineering responsibilities related to the upkeep and performance of two High Speed Balance Bunkers for Generator and Steam Turbine equipment.
- Data acquisition for all test facilities. Learn and setup existing systems and have the ability to implement future solutions
- Set and own annual CapEx and OpEx budget within generator manufacturing to include necessary maintenance, development, and improvement of Generator Test facilities.
- Work with cross-functional peers in manufacturing engineering, planning, quality, etc to fulfill business requirements, resolve issues and drive continuous improvement
- Support qualification and training of additional test engineers, technicians, or operators.
- Define and control production process including tooling and equipment. Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, or equipment
- Includes indirect people management responsibility including staffing and prioritization. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.
- Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
- Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
- Oversee electronic equipment calibration programs
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college; Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Experience in manufacturing or engineering design.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future
- This is 100% onsite position for our GE Schenectady, NY Service Center Plant
Desired Characteristics
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Experience with generator design or manufacturing.
- High Electrical Systems aptitude
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
- Ability to lead a technical and operational team in performing tasks.
- Technical print and specification reading and writing abilities.
- PLC experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to self-learn
- Ability to troubleshoot test hardware and repair as needed.
Pay Transparency:
The base pay range for this position is $87,300.00 - 145,500.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 10% performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. Expected close date from career site is once a contender is identified.
