This position functions as both a Data Coordinator office scheduler and Operating Room Front Desk Data Coordinator. A Data Coordinator functions as a clinical support partner assisting the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. A Data Coordinator is responsible for scheduling of surgical procedures, auditing patient charges and case histories into the computer, patient registration, office reception, and general clerical support, flow of the OR front desk. Schedule - Saturday & Sunday graveyard shift 1900-0700. Will require some holiday call. Data Coordinator for Scheduling Office and Operating Room Front Desk + Works closely in a proactive manner with their assigned group or leader(s) and serves as a liaison with other internal and external stakeholders. + Under the direction of the leader(s), caregiver may be assigned special projects and initiatives with associated deliverables. + Work is often cross functional and may involve multiple roles within the operating room or scheduling office which include scheduling surgical procedures and input into the surgery scheduling system. + Organize and manage office area by ordering and maintaining supplies. File and manage records. + Monitor surgery schedule to avoid overbooking problems, suggest alternatives to physicians and/or offices. Notify manager of scheduling conflicts when necessary. + Provide excellent customer service when working with physicians, their offices, and nursing departments. + De-escalate callers and troubleshoot issues while maintaining a polite and professional attitude and demeanor. + Answer phone calls while serving as the information link between physician, patient, and ancillary departments. + Collect and input data, run reports, and distribute information as needed. + Direct patient interaction and care in the OR suite + Take medications from the delivery system to the RN or Anesthesia in the OR suite Collaboration: + Collaborate and consult with RN and other members of the interdisciplinary team for best patient care. + Demonstrate effective teamwork, prioritization, communication, and organization.Perform non-nursing duties as delegated (e.g., cleaning, stocking, answering phones, clerical support, providing directions). + Implements plan of care as delegated. + Perform assigned duties within scope of practice and performs specialized procedures with skill validation and according to regulatory standards. + Foster a safe environment by complying with the safety policy and taking appropriate action in an emergency. Patient Care Support and Clerical Activities: + Schedule patient procedures. + Review registration information to see what additional information is required, gathers additional information as needed + Ability to organize and input data appropriately. + Data and charge entry. + Verification of physician privileges. + Answer unit phone calls and disseminates information appropriately. + Process, organize, file, and maintain patient and unit records. + Act as unit receptionist. + May organize, stock, and maintain supplies on the unit. + May provide access control to visitor entrance to secure units. Minimum Qualifications + One year of experience in healthcare, IT support, or clerical support. + Computer experience with office software applications. Preferred Qualifications + One year of customer service experience, especially in a Hospital or Medical Office. + Experience as a secretary in a hospital. + Medical terminology. + Clerical experience. Physical Requirements: + Interact with others requiring employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information. + Operate computers, telephones, office equipment, including manipulating paper requiring the ability to move fingers and hands. + See and read computer monitors and documents. + Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
