Job description
Groundskeepers work under the direction of a supervisor lead person or persons of higher classification.
Complete assigned routes in an efficient manner according to established standards.
Tasks include but are not limited to the following list
Use of power tools including but not limited to gas and/or battery powered backpack blower hedger and weed whip.
Use of shovels rakes loppers hand saw pole saw and hand shears.
Monitor and remove leaves and debris from the landscape.
Eradicate weeds and volunteer plants.
Mowing edging of small lawns. (21 walk behind mower)
Hand watering plant material.
Mulch spreading.
Attaching moving and pushing of debris dumpsters.
Loading and unloading of trucks.
Candidates must have a working knowledge and safe operation of small power equipment and hand tools. Perform pre and post safety checks of small engine equipment. Know and use proper personal protective equipment for each job task.
Physical requirement to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
Ability to withstand extensive standing stooping squatting pushing and pulling.
Ability to work in an environment where there is high exposure to dust pollens and other allergens.
Must work safely and comply with safety procedures.
Must wear department provided uniform (Tshirts)
Must have own safety boots.
Must possess a current and valid California drivers license and be 21 years or older.
Other miscellaneous duties: Special event preparations and clean up. Cleaning of equipment.
Administrative functions including but not limited to: Timecard entry.
