Position Summary
The applicant will maintain an active research program in insect molecular systematics, particularly with beetles and provide leadership in the curation and databasing of frozen insect specimens and DNA data as part of the AJ Cook Arthropod Research Collection. The successful applicant will be expected to develop molecular systematic techniques, generate and catalog DNA data, reconstruct phylogenies with modern methodology, collaborate with international and national colleagues, collect and organize specimens for frozen preservation, sort and identify beetle specimens including species level, describe and diagnose species based on morphological and molecular characters, develop both web based multi-entry and traditional dichotomous keys, and publish peer reviewed papers.
Position is funded for 9-months, with possible extension based on performance and funding availability.

Required DegreeDoctorate -Entomology, Biology or related
Minimum RequirementsDemonstrated training and expertise in curatorial techniques, beetle taxonomy, molecular systematics, and a record of scholarly activities in their field demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications.
Desired QualificationsTraining in beetle systematics, knowledge of Lucid, Fact Sheet Fusion software and the online databases Symbiota and GenBank.
