Summary This position, at the request and direction of the Deputy Coroner, provides timely and professional transportation services of deceased persons within the jurisdiction of the Chester County Coroner's Office.
Essential Duties - Properly prepare decedent remains for removal with assistance.
- Physically lift and move decedents onto and off of transport stretcher.
- Properly transport and admit decedents to various morgue facilities throughout the county according to agency policy.
- Operate a county emergency vehicle.
- Handle decedents in various stages of decomposition.
- Maneuver decedents safely in various conditions such as: indoors, outdoors, public locations, hazardous conditions (fire scenes, car accident scenes), tight and cluttered spaces, hospitals etc.
- Assist investigators with maneuvering the decedents for photographs
- Professionally work with Law Enforcement and other emergency personnel on scene.
- Refrain from disclosing any confidential or privileged information.
Qualifications/Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience - Applicant must be available to work a variety of shifts that occur 24/7.
- A majority of the shifts will be WEEKDAY overnight shifts (1900-0700), plus at least one weekend per month (Friday 1900 to Monday 0700) or a combination of two or more weekend days/nights. Occasional weekday day shifts (0700-1900) may be requested to fill gaps in the schedule.
- Must be able to lift over 50 pounds.
- Must live in Chester County.
- Must be atleast 21 years old.
