The Buyer, External Manufacturing performs the analysis, procurement, and tracking of receipt of Finish Goods (FG) from various Contract Manufacturers (CM) to support sales forecasts for company divisions. This also includes the procurement of Raw Materials (RM), parts, and supplies that are required at the various CMs to produce FG volumes. Negotiate with suppliers for the best cost, quality and timely delivery of products and services. Work with Corporate Planning Team to create and optimize Purchase Plan. Assist and support other Buyer/Planners, Managers, and Engineers as assigned. This role works with internal operations, planning, marketing, quality/regulatory, engineering, and global procurement to develop plans to sustain, improve, and ensure a strong FG supply base.
Perform Buyer/Planning activities for each assigned Contract Manufacturer.
Identify, analyze, and utilize data to develop and execute planned orders.
Create Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders
Utilize Oracle ERP/MRP system for planning and procurement.
Monitor supplier performance and resolve delivery issues.
Evaluates and reacts to changing conditions and circumstances including recognizing variables affecting production and supplier capabilities.
Maintain System Information – Regularly update Oracle and other Systems to forecast reliable delivery projections.
Investigate and resolve invoices holds.
Track open orders and update PO delivery dates.
Maintain Oracle System SKU and Vendor information.
Meeting and Reporting – maintain regular contact with CMs and Internal staff to ensure a strong FG supply base.
Issue Monthly POs and 12month Rolling Forecasts to CMs.
Adjusts and mitigates problematic deliveries.
Works with CMs for accurate forecasting, lead time, availability and condition of sale including freight terms to ensure highest quality at lowest cost solutions.
Works with CMs to continuously improve the values of goods and services especially focused on quality and responsiveness.
Be an effective team member on product development projects.
Work on other projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required for his position.
Bachelor degree or equivalent with 5+ years of experience, Master degree with 3+ years of experience, Doctoral degree with 0-2 years of experience
Experience with MRP systems and knowledge of operations/manufacturing flow.
Computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
Detail oriented and very well organized.
Forecasting, planning and budgeting abilities.
Strong analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with all departments.
Experience using the Oracle, Agile and Cognos database a plus.
Must be able to give and welcome constructive feedback; contribute to building a positive team spirit.
Must treat others with respect; work with integrity and ethically; uphold organizational values.
Exceptional practical problem-solving skills, excellent organizational and communication skills.
Six Sigma LEAN a plus.
