We are seeking a dynamic service-oriented, culturally spirited professional to join our team as Human Resources Coordinator. The Human Resources Coordinator originates and leads Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide a team member-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity, and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.
Responsible for carrying out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruitment, onboarding, team member relations, employment law/compliance, team member equity programs, benefits administration, workers compensation and safety, project management, and administration.
The Key Responsibilities
- Align line staff, management, and the team as a whole to work cohesively and lead them to understand goals as of the Hotel. Foster a positive work culture and environment through team member engagement programs.
- Manage the recruiting, new hire and onboarding process.
- Responsible for the ethical resolution of all team member relations issues.
- Responsible for the accurate administration of team member benefits.
- Investigate and manage hotel safety-related issues (i.e. Cal OSHA, Worker's Comp, hotel security policies and procedures, emergency procedures).
- Manage all Unemployment /Workers Compensation filings.
- Manage operations in compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations.
- Handles confidential and sensitive information that pertains to a variety of candidate and employment matters.
- Supports positive team member relations through the administration, coordination, communication and application of human resources policies, procedures, and practices.
- Provide support to Hiring Managers in all aspects of the recruiting lifecycle; monitor applicant tracking system and respond to all inquiries within a timely manner; review resumes, conduct initial candidate screens; may schedule in-person interviews with hiring managers; perform data entry of candidate activities.
- Works in concert with the Home Office Human Resources and designated Human Resources Business Partner to address and resolve human resource related issues.
- Processes new-hire, termination, and status change paperwork; coordinates completion with department managers; verifies the completeness of information in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensures proper onboarding of new team members. Facilitates completion of co-employer online new hire paperwork and company onboarding process.
- Manages the post offer process i.e. background check, employment verification, education verification.
- Provides hotel-level support for workers' compensation claims management; completes claim paperwork and reports incident to carrier; facilitates ongoing communication with injured worker and between the Home Office, co-employer, and carrier.
- Serves as liaison between hotel and Home Office for job postings. Foster relationships with technical colleges and other resources to create and maintain a pipeline of accessible, viable candidates; attend job fairs and careers events
- Assists with the preparation of company-wide initiatives i.e. annual performance appraisal process, team member engagement survey, etc.
- Ensures distribution and dissemination of home office directed materials.
- Assists in coordinating special projects and events i.e. monthly team member recognition events, service training.
- Coordinates monthly safety program activities, to include: Safety Committee meetings; provides staff support for monthly Safety Committee meeting by attending meeting; recoding meeting notes.
- Prepares and maintains human resources data and reports; creates reports and analyses using the HRIS, and other software, as required; assists in performing research work by gathering, assembling and compiling data for studies and reports.
- Responds to requests for information and support in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Interfaces effectively with team members to address questions and concerns related to their employment. Refer to co-employer when appropriate.
- Maintains personnel files and ensure records are in compliance with company policies, practices, and applicable laws.
The Model Qualifications
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Degree in Human Resources or related discipline preferred.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in the collection and dissemination of information; insures that highly sensitive, proprietary and/or confidential information is released only to those authorized.
- 1-2 years of Human Resources experience, with at least 1 year in an advanced administrator or managerial role.
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Society Human Resources Management - Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification preferred.
- Hospitality industry experience preferred.
