Description

The Bridge is seeking a Cook responsible for planning and preparing economical and healthy meals for residents of a 100-bed shelter for survivors of domestic/sexual violence and homelessness in compliance with USDA Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) grant and other regulatory agency requirements.

  1. Prepares meals and snacks for all adult and child shelter residents and children enrolled in onsite and offsite agency childcare centers. All meals and menus must be prepared in compliance with CACFP grant requirements and established program nutritional guidelines
  2. Prepares menus that take into consideration the varying health and cultural needs of shelter residents.
  3. Utilizes donated foods as much as possible adjusting menus to incorporate donated food items, particularly produce and perishable items with a shortened shelf life.
  4. Maintains and orderly kitchen and pantry, which includes after meal clean up and regular and thorough cleaning of equipment and appliances, walls, shelves, etc.
  5. Document food services provided to ensure compliance with CACFP, Houston Food Bank, Pasadena Health Department and Health and Human Services Commission requirements.
  6. Conduct all work in accordance with The Bridge’s service philosophies and mission; adhering to policies and procedures.
  7. Provide orientation to volunteers and new staff as designated.
  8. Other duties as assigned.
