We are looking to for a detail-oriented Purchasing Estimator to join our company’s Estimating team!
This is an in-office role, requiring availability to work out of our Logan, UT headquarters.
Job Overview
The Purchasing Estimator is responsible for performing estimating and budgeting on Residential Construction projects. You will play a vital role in our procurement process by accurately assessing costs, analyzing data, and negotiating with suppliers to ensure the most cost-effective purchasing decisions. You will collaborate closely with our procurement team, project managers, and vendors to optimize sourcing strategies and contribute to the overall success of our projects.
Responsibilities
Review construction plans and specifications for constructability
Prepare detailed takeoffs using PlanSwift
Manage bidding process, including:
Obtaining proposals, bidding proposals, scopes, contracting, and change order process (back-end support for Project Managers)
Research raw materials suppliers and comparing costs.
Negotiate purchase and trade agreements.
Develop inventory controls to identify demand for new materials.
Develop and execute purchasing strategies.
Track metrics to reduce expenses.
Manage and maintain positive relationships suppliers and trade partners
Requirements/Education/Experience
Previous estimating experience in the industry (ideally in the Utah Market)
Experience with construction plans is a plus
Education in Construction Management, Business Management, Accounting/Finance, or related field preferred
Strong analytical skills and great attention to detail
Excellent communication skills
Ability to read, understand, and organize construction plans and specifications
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines
Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office based programs and takeoff software
