Sonoma Country Day School is hiring a dynamic math teacher and instructional coach for 2024-2025, seeking expertise in fostering critical thinking and problem-solving. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong pedagogy, content knowledge, and a commitment to student-centered learning. They prioritize student needs, embody a growth mindset, and collaborate effectively with colleagues. The responsibilities of this role are twofold, encompassing the instruction of fourth-grade mathematics through a hands-on, problem-based approach, as well as assuming an additional duty to exemplify, coach, observe, and support lower school faculty in the utilization of research-based mathematical strategies and differentiated instructional methodologies for students from Kindergarten to third grade. This faculty member will play a crucial role in facilitating the continuity of mathematical education between lower and middle school levels and be part of a thriving and dynamic math team comprising three outstanding educators, making for a collaborative and fun team approach. The fourth grade math teacher and instruction coach will be part of the middle school division and report to the middle school division head.
With social-emotional learning as an integral part of middle school, teachers serve as advisors to 9-12 students, building positive relationships and a sense of belonging. Learning at Sonoma Country Day School is not confined to the classroom. The school’s outdoor education programs, student-leadership activities, and athletic offerings are hallmarks of every student’s school experience. Candidates will be expected to share in the day-to-day life of the SCDS middle school community.
Salary, Benefits, and Expectations
This position offers a competitive salary of $65k to $110k, depending on experience, and includes benefits. Hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, with a weekly faculty meeting until 4:30, and team planning meetings may require additional time. Occasional evening and weekend commitments are required throughout the school year.

Desired Qualifications
Applicants should have experience working with secondary school-aged students and have the ability to model mathematics lessons and assist teachers with math professional development strategies throughout the school year. A bachelor’s or advanced degree in math education or a related field is preferable. Strong interpersonal skills, good humor, and flexibility are essential.
