Experienced Probate Paralegal
We’re seeking a skilled, organized, and experienced paralegal to join our growing legal team. The ideal candidate for this position will use their work experience and skills to prepare and maintain legal documents such as affidavits and briefs, file motions, interview clients, and conduct legal research. Responsibilities:
- Help lawyers prepare for trial by preparing and organizing exhibits, assisting with client meetings, filing motions, conducting research on legal articles, and organizing and coordinating witnesses
- Hold client interviews to gather information about their legal problems
- Assist lawyers in preparing legal documentation, pleadings, and correspondence including correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits
- Perform administrative duties such as answering phone calls and keeping our case filing system organized so all documents are readily accessible
- Draft subpoenas and coordinate with process servers
- Drafting of probate or administration proceeding papers, collection and valuation of assets, maintaining estate asset lists with date of death values, payment of debts, and bequests
- Corresponding with clients - heavy client contact both verbal and written
- Monitoring of deadlines of key dates and events for each matter assigned
- Maintaining estate administration files and maintaining a complete set of correspondence, memos, and administrative documents using practice management software
- Assisting with the preparation of any documentation necessary for transferring assets
- Working alongside real estate and corporate specialists when transfer documents are needed for assets
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of legal service experience under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting
- ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree desired
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and talent for writing and grammar
- Candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have advanced paralegal education will receive preference
- Candidates should possess high-level organizational skills, and time-management skills
