Job description
Job Summary:
Tests a variety of samples and materials according to specifications and completes all associated documentation required by standard operating procedures and customer requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Tests raw material, bulk batch and finished good samples according to specifications, records test results and observations with a high degree of accuracy, communicates abnormal results/observations to the Q.A. Manager.
- Records equipment temperatures and calibrates and maintains all equipment as specified.
- Sends samples to customers and outside testing laboratories and completes the required shipping documents.
- Must cross-train and learn incoming material sampling and inspection procedures.
- Must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation without posing a direct threat to the individual or others.
- May manage stability studies of bulk product formulas (schedules test intervals, tests the bulk product samples, records results and observations with a high degree of accuracy, communicates abnormal results/observations to R & D Manager).
- May test process water samples according to specifications, records test results and observations with a high degree of accuracy, communicates abnormal results/observations to the Q.A. Manager.
- May maintains Material Safety Data Sheets in the Quality Control Lab and Right to Know file.
- Performs clerical tasks in the laboratory.
- Orders and inventories laboratory supplies.
- Performs assigned tasks in the Production area.

Knowledge & Skills:
Ideal Candidate Qualifications :
- Able to handle multiple tasks in a short amount of time.
- Able to write clear and concise
- Able to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages).
- Has good organizational and time management skills.
- Has high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office helpful.
- Works with minimum supervision.
- Perform essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, accurately, and safely.
Education/Experience:
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year experience in Quality Control
- Experience working in manufacturing environment preferred
- Experience working in laboratory preferred.
- Experience with MS Windows i.e. Word, Excel
Laboratory equipment including but not limited to:
- pH meter
- Viscometer
- Refractometer
- Copy machine
- Fax machine
- Personal computer
Physical/Mental Demands:
- Regularly required to stand
- Occasionally/frequently required to walk
- Regularly use hands to finger, handle or feel
- Regularly reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally/frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Work Environment:
- Regularly required to work in areas where chemical materials are encountered
- Regularly required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
- May involve exposure to shop environment including variable noise levels
- Must customarily have a high consciousness for personnel and equipment safety
