About the jobĀ
Client is looking to hire an experienced bridge inspector to help us grow our inspection services. But it's more than just crawling around on bridges, you will be an integral part of our Rail Services team and will be responsible for meeting with engineers and ensuring our client's infrastructure is capable of safely carrying the intended train traffic.
This position can be remotely located or report to Overland Park, KS. The position will be full-time, with an expectation of 50% field time (often travel).
Duties of the Railroad Bridge Inspector include, but are not limited to:
- Plan and coordinate bridge inspections with local railroad contacts based on schedule and workload.
- Conduct bridge inspections in compliance with FRA regulations and as described in the AREMA bridge inspection manual.
- Manage expenses and budgets for inspection projects.
- Work with railroad bridge engineers to determine if conditions are safe to carry train traffic.
- Make decisions in the field based on sound judgment and experience regarding bridge conditions.
General Qualifications
- Strong organization and communication skills, a positive attitude.
- Training in Railroad Bridge Inspection
- Basic understanding of 49 CFR Part 237
- At home working outdoors as well as at a computer.
- Able to traverse up and down inclines with uneven footing and lift 50 lbs.
- The ability to work independently with minimal direction and oversight, excellent time management skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in the Railroad industry
- Competency in the use of web-based applications.
- Excellent skills in the use of MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
