The purpose of this position is to provide the essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and perform the work listed. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. This position serves as an Area Lead or Lead on assigned projects or performs moderately complex engineering assignments, evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques to a broad set of complex assignments.
• Apply Cost Competitive Execution techniques to develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline engineering work
• Develop and review specifications, including design criteria
• Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting
• Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve moderately complex engineering problems
• Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution
• Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
• Other duties as assigned

Basic Job Requirements

• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and eight (12) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional registration and membership in technical society
• Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials
• Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting
• Practical field experience
• Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs

Other Job Requirements

Familiar with HVAC load calculations and applied psychrometrics, capable of sizing and preparing ductwork and equipment layouts. Knowledge of plumbing, fire water, chilled water and refrigerant piping design principles. Capable of sizing building utilities (potable water, fire water, steam, plant air, instrument air, and sewage waste air requirements). Capable of selecting HVAC equipment such as air handling units, chillers, condensing units, cooling coils, heating coils, steam coils, pumps, electric heaters, fans, cooling towers and also capable of selecting plumbing fixtures and firefighting equipment.

Understands and knows how to follow and apply various codes, standards and handbooks including ASHRAE Fundamentals, ASHRAE systems and equipment, ASHRAE refrigeration, ASHRAE application, ICC (IBC, IMC, IPC & IFC), SMACNA, and NFPA.

Have experience in engineering and designing building mechanical systems for buildings in one or more of the following industries:
• Energy & Chemicals (preferred)
• Offshore
• Metals Manufacturing and Processing
• Microelectronics & Semiconductors

Have experience working as a building mechanical system engineer involved with multi-million dollar building project team (engineers and designers) in different stages from front end engineering design, detailed design, bidding process, construction, commission and acceptance of the building completion. Have leadership experience and is capable of delegating work, coordinating and directing other BMS engineers and designers in the home office and remote offices, and coordinating with other disciplines. Able to conduct project related meeting, assigning tasks to team members and following up throughout the project.

Candidate must have high proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Chvac Elite, AutoCAD. Candidate must have good written and verbal communication skills. Candidate must have minimum Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
